The Best Smoothie Recipes Ever

During the holidays I ate ALL the wrong things. Seriously. I think that for the entire month of November and December, I just ate anything I wanted and didn’t even care.

Now, as most of us are I’m sure, I am suffering the consequences. I not only gained a little weight, but my skin is going completely out of control with break outs. Of course, it’s not as bad as when I was in high school or college, but it’s pretty bad, and I’m NOT pleased.

Therefore, I’ve been really into smoothies in the morning! For the past two weeks (nearly every day), I’ve been having a smoothie for breakfast. It turns out that smoothies are pretty filling, and even though I end up being ravenously hungry about 3 hours later, I still find that I’m feeling a lot less sluggish throughout the day!

I have been experimenting with a lot of different smoothie concoctions, and I think I’ve finally stumbled across the right formula and combinations to create the BEST smoothies ever! I find that I like to have greens in my smoothies as well because it’s a great way to get those into your system from early on in the day.

SO… here are 3 of my absolute favorite smoothie recipes right now, and I hope you enjoy them!

Kermit’s Green Machine (yes, I made up the name) from the other morning!

*any nut butter will do, but after trying this recipe with peanut & almond as well, I found that the macadamia nut butter creates a much creamier texture than the others.

Fresh & Fruity

1.5 cups unsweetened coconut milk

1 large frozen banana

6 medium to large fresh strawberries

1 tbs almond butter

2 tbs flax and chia seed blend (optional)

Coo Coo for Cocoa Puffs

1.5 cups unsweetened almond and coconut milk blend

5 ice cubes

1 large banana

2 tbs raw unsweetened cocoa powder

1.5 tbs organic natural peanut butter

2 tbs flax and chia seed blend (optional)

I love smoothies! I like to put plain non fat greek yogurt into my smoothies. That gives it TONS of protein and keeps me full for hours. I will definitely get these a try …love finding new smoothie recipes! :-)

Yes! I like to use greek yogurt in mine sometimes too! It adds a bit of tang and definitely a creamy texture. I’ve been staying away from dairy lately as much as possible, though, so they haven’t featured in my most recent smoothie concoctions lol Let me know what you think of the recipes if you try any of them out :)
